這本雜志發(fā)表了關于神經(jīng)系統(tǒng)功能的原創(chuàng)文章。包括從細胞膜和細胞到系統(tǒng)和行為的所有功能級別。實驗方法包括分子神經(jīng)生物學、細胞培養(yǎng)和切片制劑、膜生理學、發(fā)育神經(jīng)生物學、功能神經(jīng)解剖學、神經(jīng)化學、神經(jīng)藥理學、系統(tǒng)電生理學、成像和制圖技術以及行為分析。實驗制劑可能是無脊椎動物或脊椎動物物種，包括人類。如果理論研究與對實驗數(shù)據(jù)的解釋和闡明廣泛關注的原則密切相關，則是可以接受的。

This journal publishes original articles on the function of the nervous system. All levels of function are included, from the membrane and cell to systems and behavior. Experimental approaches include molecular neurobiology, cell culture and slice preparations, membrane physiology, developmental neurobiology, functional neuroanatomy, neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, systems electrophysiology, imaging and mapping techniques, and behavioral analysis. Experimental preparations may be invertebrate or vertebrate species, including humans. Theoretical studies are acceptable if they are tied closely to the interpretation of experimental data and elucidate principles of broad interest.
