《動物認知》是一本跨學科的期刊，提供動物行為學、行為生態學、動物行為與學習、認知科學、比較心理學和進化心理學等多個學科在進化框架下對動物(和人類)認知各方面的最新研究。《動物認知》出版了關于生物根源的認知-智力結構的機制和進化的原始經驗和理論著作、綜述、方法論文、簡短的交流和通信。該雜志探索了動物的時間感知和使用;因果關系檢測;先天反應模式和先天學習基礎;數值能力和頻率期望;符號使用;溝通;解決問題，動物思維和工具的使用，以及思維的模塊化。

Animal Cognition is an interdisciplinary journal offering current research from many disciplines (ethology, behavioral ecology, animal behavior and learning, cognitive sciences, comparative psychology and evolutionary psychology) on all aspects of animal (and human) cognition in an evolutionary framework.Animal Cognition publishes original empirical and theoretical work, reviews, methods papers, short communications and correspondence on the mechanisms and evolution of biologically rooted cognitive-intellectual structures.The journal explores animal time perception and use; causality detection; innate reaction patterns and innate bases of learning; numerical competence and frequency expectancies; symbol use; communication; problem solving, animal thinking and use of tools, and the modularity of the mind.
