《中國通信》創(chuàng)刊于2004年，期刊總編輯為兩院院士、北京郵電大學(xué)教授陳俊亮。2008年起，應(yīng)廣大讀者需求期刊由純英文版變更為中英文雙語版。中英文刊的出版目標(biāo)是成為我國通信行業(yè)最具影響力的，有學(xué)術(shù)特色的綜合性期刊。中英文刊立足于我國信息通信業(yè)發(fā)展大局，積極開展海內(nèi)外學(xué)術(shù)交流，及時反映海內(nèi)外最新研究成果。

　　《中國通信》(ChinaCommunications)(月刊)是由中國科學(xué)技術(shù)協(xié)會主管，在工業(yè)和信息化部的指導(dǎo)下，由中國通信學(xué)會主辦的高層次學(xué)術(shù)期刊。《中國通信》邀請國內(nèi)外通信領(lǐng)域極具權(quán)威、極具影響力的學(xué)者專家組成編輯委員會，共同塑造高水平、優(yōu)質(zhì)量、高學(xué)術(shù)價值的期刊。

　　《中國通信》肩負(fù)著促進(jìn)我國信息通信行業(yè)學(xué)術(shù)地位的提升，促進(jìn)國內(nèi)外學(xué)術(shù)交流，弘揚(yáng)自主創(chuàng)新精神等重要使命，代表著中國通信學(xué)術(shù)界與產(chǎn)業(yè)界的水平，具有很強(qiáng)的權(quán)威性和廣泛的國際影響力。

　　2007年，《中國通信》被科學(xué)引文索引擴(kuò)展版(SCIE)收錄，正式成為全球頂級SCI源期刊。2008年，中國通信學(xué)會與國際電氣和電子工程師協(xié)會通信分會(IEEEComSoc)就《中國通信》倡議合作簽署了諒解備忘錄。

　　《中國通信》詳實(shí)地向讀者介紹國內(nèi)外信息與通信領(lǐng)域?qū)W術(shù)研究、科技成果、業(yè)務(wù)應(yīng)用、動態(tài)等。
