   《Journal of Rare Earths》(稀土學報)(英文版)于1990年創刊,由中國稀土學會和北京有色金屬研究總院主辦,北京有色金屬研究總院承辦,北京大學協辦,北京大學徐光憲院士任主編,是報道稀土理論研究和應用技術的稀土類綜合性學術刊物。主要報道有關稀土化學與濕法冶金,稀土金屬學與火法冶金,稀土新材料,稀土固體物理與固體化學,稀土應用研究,稀土分析檢測;稀土地質、礦物和選礦等方面的學術論文、綜合評述、研究快報、研究簡報。

  與國內同類英文版期刊相比,《Journal of Rare Earths》具有創刊歷史較長、內容主題突出而又涉及領域廣泛的特點!禞ournal of Rare Earths》是世界上唯一一本專門報道稀土基礎理論和應用科學研究工作的英文版科技期刊,刊登有創新內容、實驗數據較完整且學術水平較高的研究成果及熱點研究領域的領先成果的首發論文!禞ournal of Rare Earths》編委會目前有11位國際編委,2006年開始由國際著名出版集團愛思唯爾公司(Elsevier)公司在其網絡平臺發行本刊網絡版。

  在注重稿源質量、內容質量的同時,《Journal of Rare Earths》非常重視出版質量。根據新聞出版總署報刊司2008年3月10 日發布的“關于外文版學術期刊編校質量檢查結果的通報”(新出報刊司[2008] 102號),在列入檢查范圍的148種外文版學術期刊中,合格期刊僅44種,該刊名列合格期刊的第23名。
