　　在1996年元月召開的國(guó)務(wù)院學(xué)位評(píng)定委員會(huì)上，經(jīng)數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)科委員會(huì)無(wú)記名投票，《東北數(shù)學(xué)》被評(píng)為全國(guó)18種重要數(shù)學(xué)期刊之一。在這18種期刊中，《數(shù)學(xué)研究通訊》是惟一的由一所大學(xué)主辦的期刊。《數(shù)學(xué)研究通訊》在國(guó)內(nèi)數(shù)學(xué)界已占有了重要的位置，為我國(guó)的數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)科的建設(shè)和發(fā)展作出了一定的貢獻(xiàn)。

　　【辦刊宗旨】

　　本刊堅(jiān)持普及與提高相結(jié)合，以提高為主的辦刊方針。辦刊宗旨是報(bào)道數(shù)學(xué)研究成果，傳播數(shù)學(xué)研究技術(shù)，促進(jìn)數(shù)學(xué)研究科技交流，推動(dòng)數(shù)學(xué)研究科技進(jìn)步。本刊主要刊登國(guó)內(nèi)外數(shù)學(xué)方面的科研論文，努力將其辦成能夠展示純數(shù)學(xué)科研領(lǐng)域的最新研究成果和動(dòng)態(tài)，并指導(dǎo)其進(jìn)一步的研究方向。現(xiàn)已被國(guó)務(wù)院學(xué)位評(píng)定委員會(huì)指定為18種重要數(shù)學(xué)期刊之一。

　　國(guó)家新聞出版總署收錄　都被美國(guó)《數(shù)學(xué)評(píng)論》、德國(guó)《數(shù)學(xué)文摘》及俄羅斯《文摘雜志》評(píng)摘。

　　2003年年初檢索統(tǒng)計(jì)結(jié)果表明，我國(guó)進(jìn)入Zentralblatt MATH系統(tǒng)的150多種入選期刊中(含港、澳、臺(tái)地區(qū))，《數(shù)學(xué)研究通訊》(Northeast. Math. J.)名列第十。
